THE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From CANNABIS CORPSE, GHOUL, LEGION OF THE DAMNED and More Out Today – 1/7

Happy New Year to you all and happy new layout to us here at Metal Injection. This is the first one of these I've done in a while, so it is kind of nice that it is fairly slow week so I can get back to whatever form I once had.

To the metals…

Altar of Betelgeuze – Darkness Sustains The Silence 393170

Genre: Doom
Origin: Helsinki, Finland
Label: Memento Mori

Buy now on Bandcamp.com

What we have here is a great blend of bands like The SwordCandlemass, and In The Arms of God era Corrosion of Conformity. This record has some lengthy jams that are worth the doomy journey. A great debut.

Cannabis Corpse/Ghoul – Splatterhash Split EP ghoul-cannabis-e1383169165526

Genre: Death Metal
Origin: Richmond, Virginia/Oakland, California
Label: Tankcrimes

Buy now on Amazon.com

By now, you hopefully get the Cannabis Corpse shtick, but if not, they are a death metal band all about weed. Their half of this split isn't bad, but the Ghoul half is stronger. Ghoul's brand of fun sounding death metal is always refreshing to hear. The two band's make a pretty nice pairing. Not too similar, not too different, just right.

Legion Of The Damned – Ravenous Plague p185ooc57k9ipjaa3l0kpniuv3

Genre: Thrash/ Death Metal
Origin: Geldrop, Netherlands
Label: Napalm

Buy now on Amazon.com

These guys are pretty fucking cool. They blend Behemoth-like death metal with modern-day Exodus, and create cool experience. Side note: This video is über metal…

Nausea – Condemned To The System p1882qr2mt1r9vjbp14vbcfmmci4

Genre: Death Metal
Origin: Los Angeles, California
Label: Willowtip

Buy now on Amazon.com

There has been something in the air the last few years that has been inspiring old bands that dropped a few records twenty plus years ago to reform. I mean, it seems to be paying off for these bands as far as finding new audience or awaking their old one. Odd how this OG Death Metal band has been reformed for, going on, thirteen years and is just getting to new music. Solid death metal if that's your thing though.

n.a.m.e. – Sounds From The Northname - Sounds From The North - cover

Genre:Experimental Death Metal
Origin: San Francisco
Label: Lifeforce (However, this was independently released)

It's been nearly four years since their awesome debut Internet Killed The Audio Star, and it looks like the band is finally getting to new material. This collection of live tracks contains some gems from their debut, as well as a tasty new track called "Ode to the Colossus: The Giant of Circumstance." If new track is any indication of the direction of their next album, fans shan't be disappointed.
